On this tour, you’ll observe our professional beekeeper as they open a hive and show you what we look for when caring for our bees. See how bees live – collecting and storing pollen and nectar, raising their young, and if we’re very lucky, we may even see the queen bee!
Your tour will begin with an interactive and brief lecture on the different roles of the bees in the colony, how they communicate and how they create honey and beeswax. Then you’ll get up close and personal with more than 100,000 bees. We’ll conclude the tour by tasting honey harvested from local hives throughout the Greater Bay Area and discussing how honey gets its unique flavors.
If you’re interested in learning a bit more about the bees, you may want to join us for Beekeeping 101 – an interactive lecture that that happens one hour prior to our tours. Learn More Here.
